Some of you may be fully clued up to the student property search tips, but for the rest of the world, hunting for a decent student house can be filled with a list of fears and an unavoidable nervousness.

A sense of “I don't know what the hell I am doing?” during an apartment search can chase you in the Edmonton city too. To evade it off, you need to rely upon a reliable source such as Mainstreet Equity Corp. Finding Apartments in the Central Edmonton area can be a stress-free task with them.

There are several educational institutions in the Edmonton. The largest university here is the University of Alberta, which is one of the Canada’s top universities. It has been rated 107th in the world (2016-2017) in The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Every year, this university provides education to about 36,000 students.

The Edmonton is also the site of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). This institution offers polytechnic and applied sciences courses in a variety of undergraduate and certificate or diploma based study programs. It is a big campus with over 48,500 students enrolled per academic year.

The city of Edmonton is also the home to more than ten post-secondary institutions. So, the learning opportunities are endless here. This is why, each year many students from different places come to Edmonton for their further education. They prefer to stay in an apartment outside the College or University to live the life of their own choice.

Well, let us help you find the dream student rental apartment in Edmonton with our top 5 guidelines.

1) Know your potential roommates: We understand it's not easy to find a roommate. When you get admitted to a university, you try to juggle course work with socializing. You stay worried that you will never find a person that you want to live with.

If that so is your case, then stop worrying, as not everyone gets it in a go. Instead, the more you know your potential housemates, the better. So, start looking at your new-found friends with an objective - would they be ok to live with?

2) Have a notion of what you really want: Start making a list of your top desires and requirements in an apartment such as:

- Price: How much you can afford to pay.

- Location: Close to university? Close to shops? Close to restaurants? etc.

- Amenities: Washer & dryer, dishwasher, parking facility, etc.

Don’t forget to make a list of your most important things, whether affordability is the criterion to choose an apartment or location lies on the top in your priority list and then rank them in order.

3) Start searching early for your house

You must have heard the famous idiom “The early bird definitely catches the worm” which implies that you should start your apartment search as soon as your roommates and priorities are set. Especially, if you are a big group, you need to stay organized - to have a lot more people to get into gear.

Once you have got these few tips down, the real task of searching a student house should seem a little less daunting. Now you just need to begin finding that dream apartment in Edmonton, but hopefully this has made the overall process much easier.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Perhaps, this is your first year of college in Calgary, and you chose to stay off campus or maybe you are finding your dorm room dinky and getting ready to leave it behind! Whatsoever your situation is, looking for off-campus Calgary Apartments can be as much of a pain as a pop quiz.

After the whole school year of guessing on your examinations, let Mainstreet Equity Corp. take the guesswork out of where you are going to live in Calgary.

Get to Know Calgary and Your New Campus

Try to arrive at the Calgary a few weeks before the beginning of your semester. This will give you an opportunity to relax, settle-down and get acquainted with the city and the campus. This adjustment phase offers you a great time to sort out important things like setting up a bank account, arranging Internet & phone, and buying all the things you will need in your rental apartment. Arriving early also benefits you by letting you attend important social events and orientations, arranged by the Welcome Centre and International Student Society.

There are so many fraud scenarios that students usually face while moving to a new city. Mainstreet Equity Corp. finds it good for you to know what situations to escape. You need to stay extra cautious while your search for student housing in Calgary .

During your hunt for a perfect place, you will find a variety of tempting student housing deals. No doubt that most of the online postings are real, but at times you may also come across a listing that should make you doubtful. If any deal looks too good to be true, contact us for a second opinion. We can help you with anything that seems out of place or unquestionable. Moreover, you can look at our genuinely priced student housings in Calgary to elude fraud deals and complexities associated.

Pay attention, if the websites on which the deals are mentioned provide a space to post and search listings in an area mentioned. It is good to give attention to such things, as anyone can make a fake account, post photographs and pose as a landlord.

Few advices & tips for new students

1. If you find an ad too alluring to be true, it is better to avoid it. If you are getting a rental apartment for half as much as a similar property in the same locality, there are good chances that it could be a scam.

2. If a landlord looks apprehensive to rent-out the unit and collect the security deposit without any prior inspection of the tenant, there may be a reason to suspect.

3. If a landlord only communicates through e-mails or if he refuses to speak to you over a call, you should be suspicious and concerned.

4. It is always a good notion to go and examine the unit before you transfer your money or provide them with your personal information. In case, you cannot visit the apartment personally, try asking any of your friends or family members to do it for you.

5. Never provide your SIN numbers or credit card numbers, as this is not required for the rental process.

6. Be extra careful if you are using MoneyGram or Western Union to send payments. It is a better idea to avoid them entirely if possible, as any money sent through these mediums can be cashed directly and is very hard to recover.

So, always consider the aforementioned things to avoid risks created by fraudsters.

Want to get in better shape but don’t want to pay for a gym membership?

Why not work out in your apartment: you get the privacy you want, and there are lots of ways to get a great workout, no matter your level.

The first thing you need is a foam workout mat. I like the Connect-A-Mat from Walmart, it comes in different colours , and is easy to put together and then hide when done or people come over.

This softens the noise for your neighbours , plus your ground workouts are much softer.

The second thing you need is some weights.

Again, head to Walmart to buy two different sets. I recommend both a 3 pound and 5 pound set of rubber or neoprene dumbbells if you are just starting out.
